Economics 306-1,2 Renumbered as Economics 361, 362

The Economics Department will renumber Economics 306-1 "International Economics: International and Interregional Trade" to Economics 361 "International Trade" starting in the fall of 2001.

The Economics Department will renumber Economics 306-2 "International Economics: International Finance" to Economics 362 "International Finance" starting in the fall of 2001.

The prerequisites and syllabi will be unchanged. Students who have taken these courses under their previous numbers should not retake the courses.

The purpose of the renumbering is to remove some longstanding confusions. First, the old numbering implied that 306-1 was a prerequiste for 306-2, although this never was, and still is not the case. Second, these courses - like all of our 300-level courses - have prerequisites of some or all of our intermediate theory classes (310-1,2, 311). It is our intention that eventually we will renumber all 300-level classes with numbers below 310 to avoid this confusion.
